Regulating water quantity and quality in irrigated agriculture

Article Abstract:

A theoretical model of an input-based strategy for regulating an agricultural non-point-source pollution was applied for a groundwater aquifer being polluted by several agricultural producers. The model considers two monitoring regimes (individual or central) and two regulatory tools related with each regime. Individual monitoring was observed to be better than central monitoring, both in terms of the physical characteristics of the problem and in terms of regional income.

Delivering sustainability therapy in sustainable development projects

Article Abstract:

The apparent contradiction between the linearity of most Sustainable Development projects with time-bound and defined outputs achieved at a fixed-cost, and an implied circularity of the theory whereby there is no end, is highlighted. The results suggest that such learning, therapy and reflective practice should be a valid output of the sustainable development project, although typically the focus is only upon the final outputs and the way in which they feed into policy.

Economics of reservoir sedimentation and sustainable management of dams

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that current practices of allowing reservoirs to accumulate sediment are more costly than implementing sustainable management practices. Sediment buildup ensures a finite reservoir life, while sediment control prolongs reservoir life and enhances its usefulness.
