Reversed sexual dimorphism in tawny owls, Strix aluco, correlates with duty division in breeding effort

Article Abstract:

The correlation of the inter-sexual differences in movement patterns, resource partitioning and breeding effort of tawny owls, Strix aluco, with reversed sexual dimorphism (RSD) is investigated. The main evolutionary force behind the reversed sexual dimorphism (RSD) in raptorial birds is the selection for light and energetically efficient foragers males.

Sexual size dimorphism in northern giant petrels: ecological correlates and scaling

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to study the correlation between the disproportionately large bills of males to their scavenging lifestyles. Findings suggest that the increase and maintenance of sexual size dimorphism in giant petrels was more consistent with an ecological causation instead of sexual selection.

Causes of sex-biased adult survival in ungulates: sexual size dimorphism, mating tactic or environment harshness?

Article Abstract:

The influence of sexual size dimorphism, mating tactic and environmental conditions on the between-sex differences in adult survival of polygynous ungulates is described. Sexual size dimorphism directly does not result in a decrease in male survival in comparison to female survival.
