Ruminant diversification as an adaptation to the physicomechanical characteristics of forage. A reevaluation of an old debate and a new

Article Abstract:

The driving force behind the diversification of ruminants and the evolution of grazers (GR) is the difference in physicomechanical characteristics between the forage classes. The rumen pillar thickness and relative forestomach capacity are significantly correlated to the grass content of the natural diet.

Site selection under differential predation risks by drifting prey in streams

Article Abstract:

Drifting prey in streams develops a model for the prediction of site selection by drifting prey in streams. A framework for the simultaneous integration of the effects of food availability, benthic predation risk and drift predation risk on site selection of actively drifting prey is discussed.

Competitive asymmetry, foraging area size and coexistence of annuals

Article Abstract:

The effects of competitive asymmetry on population dynamics and coexistence of two annual species with different sized foraging areas are investigated. There are large short-term fluctuations due to the symmetric competition and large size of the foraging areas.
