Article Abstract:

Apple processing firm Tastee Apple's move to replace its chlorinated water system with an ozone treatment system has given the firm significant savings. Specifically, the ozone treatment system enabled the firm to save 12,000 gallons of water while making a big reduction in wastewater disposal costs. In addition, the use of the new system prolonged the shelf-life of Tastee Apple's products. Tests conducted using the ozone treatment system showed that the yeast and mold count in water were dramatically reduced, making daily replacement of water unnecessary.
