The costs of eutrophication from salmon farming: implications for policy - a comment

Article Abstract:

The environmental economic externalities associated with salmon farming were investigated. Urban sewage, salmon farm wastes, salmon farming, and toxic algal blooms were also explored. Environment deterioration due to coastal usage recognized the need for integrated coastal zone management (ICZM). ICZM is an analytical process which aims for a balance between protection of valuable ecosystems and the development of coast-dependent economies.

Arbuscular mycorrhizae in sand dune plants of the North Atlantic Coast of the U.S.: field and greenhouse inoculation and presence of mycorrhizae in planting stock

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to discover how arbuscular mycorrhizae appear and grow in dune soils when they are planted in barren sites. Four plant species used to vegetate Eastern dune flats and barren sand dunes were examined for their ability to spread AMF on other plants. Results show the regular presence of AMF in the plants before they were re-planted. The effect of more AMF on the growth of three dune species was also analyzed.
