Article Abstract:

A baseline survey is conducted to determine the perceived relative value of native and exotic trees to local people around Gombe National Park, Western Tanzania, also studying the direct comparison of tree utilization by humans and chimpanzees. It was observed that there is a marked difference in the choices, especially with respect to native trees, by men and women, and many of the trees highly important to humans are also of great importance in the diet of chimpanzees.
