The divide at the Summit

Article Abstract:

The performance of the nations that attended the Earth Summit was dismal, especially that of the US. The refusal of the US to sign the Biodiversity Treaty hampered the approval of climate and forestry agreements. Economics rules the decisions of the nations, not concern for the destruction of the planet. Profits rule and the Earth Summit became, not a meeting for the preservation of the planet, but a venue for further profit-making.
