Article Abstract:

The environmental group Greenpeace campaigns for a ban on incineration as a waste disposal technique, use of toxic chemicals and exportation of toxic waste. Pres Clinton is urged to follow-through on his election promise to suspend the practice of incineration and advocate the legislation of the ban in the use of toxics in manufacturing. More importantly, Pres Clinton muust use his power to shut down the proposed largest incinerator in the world which is the WTI facility in East Liverpool, OH.

Article Abstract:

Two laws on nuclear testing and nuclear weapon production and a law on refuse disposal are presented. The Nuclear Testing Moratorium Act requires the US to join the Soviet Union in nuclear testing moratorium. The Nuclear Weapons Materials Production Termination Act prohibits the construction and operation of facilities related to the production of nuclear weapons. The Waste Export and Import Prohibition Act prohibits the international trade in waste.

Article Abstract:

Six new acts in favor of environmentalism and two acts weakening the position of environmentalists are presented. The two debilitatingacts are the Montana National Forest Management Act and the amendments to the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. The other six acts involve the protection of ecosystems, the Endangered Species Act, ozone protection, coral reef protection, pollution and drift net fishing.
