Tourism development and environmental limitations at Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef: a response

Article Abstract:

A study shows that the populations of wedge-tailed shearwater and black noddy in Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef Marine park, Australia, have been affected by tourism development. Research findings and the basic concepts of environmental protection have not been used to manage the island. It will be very necessary to follow strict guidelines on environmental protection while planning tourism development to protect the region from further degradation.
