Tracing recovery from acidification in the western Norwegian Nausta watershed

Article Abstract:

Redundancy analysis (RDA) was used to assess water chemistry changes in Norway's Nausta watershed, and results are compared to those obtained by other methods, such as acidity indices. The RDA technique is less geographically constrained than the other methods, and does not overestimate recovery processes.

Response of phytoplankton communities to acidification and recovery in Killarney Park and the Experimental Lakes Area, Ontario

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted on lakes in Ontario, Canada's Killarney Park region to determine the effects of sulfur dioxide emissions controls on water quality. Findings show that pH levels in several lakes have risen to above 6.0, producing richer phytoplankton biomass.
