Trophic-egg production in a subsocial bug: adaptive plasticity in response to resource conditions

Article Abstract:

The effects of food resource environments on trophic-egg production with reared females under different resource condition prior to oviposition is studied and the subsequent allocation of trophic eggs are compared. The result showed that the number of trophic eggs per viable egg was higher in females supplied with less developed seeds, the host seeds and the resource condition experienced by females prior to oviposition should be well correlated with those experienced later by the offspring.

Postnatal effects of incubation length in mallard and pheasant chicks

Article Abstract:

Eggs of mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) and ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus) were incubated in clutches arranged to stimulate embryos to hatch earlier or later than normal. Mallard chicks had better balance and mobility immediately after hatching the longer they stayed in the egg that indicates that the period immediately before hatching is an important period for muscular and organ maturity.

Effects of trophic-eggs on offspring performance and rivalry in a sub-social bug

Article Abstract:

Trophic eggs that are inviable and usually function as a food supply for offspring were removed under different resource conditions from clutches for investigation. The longevity nymphs were greatly extended by feeding upon trophic when seeds were excluded.
