Unselfishness and a sense of shared responsibility are two reasons offered by members of the Gordon family, concerning the continued longevity of the family-owned L Gordon Iron & Metal Co. Gordon Pres Saul Gordon says the company rarely makes unilateral decisions but emphasizes that the importance of not carrying grudges is born on the minds of family members working for the scrap metal firm. He adds that differences between family members are settled before leaving the office and forgotten the following day.

Persistent low commodity prices Solid waste haulers would rather stay away from the business of recycling of solid waste and stick to the collection of garbage and transporting them to landfills. 'Action News Team' exposes are created wherein a hauler is caught taking recyclables to landfills along with the garbage. Besides finance, other issues solid waste haulers include landfill siting and landfill gas emissions; solid waste flow control; OSHA and EPA regulations.
