An Economic Model of Soil Conservation/Depletion

Article Abstract:

An economic model is used to highlight the effects of five possible cropping practices on soil conservation/ depletion for dry land farming in Saskatchewan. Due to limited precipitation, poor cropping practices can lead to soil depletion. Continous planting of wheat, barley and rapeseed provided the best soil conservation. Increased net present value of the soil is a major argument for soil construction.

A note consistent estimation of mean WTP using a misspecified logit contingent valuation model

Article Abstract:

The mean WTP can be consistently approximated by the use of a simple, misspecified model logit model if the bid design is uniform. Moreover, the uniform bid design acts as a guarantee against a logit models misspecifications. However, if the degree of the model's specification is doubtful, abandoning the parametric approach and using nonparametric estimation methods is applicable.
