Wet bag composting trial yields promising results
Article Abstract:
Connecticut towns and firms participated in a search to find the amount of materials usable for composting in the wastes they accumulate. The materials were tested for their efficacy to germinate seeds and their organic content. The results of the trial show that at least 30% of household wastes could be diverted for other uses rather than being destroyed. The compost formed from household wastes had rich nutrients and improved the yield of test crops.

Composting at a Hawaiian resort
Article Abstract:
The Hualalai Resort Landscape Department on Hawaii has a successful composting program which is bringing cost savings and healthier plants. The Dept looks after some 70 acres of landscaped areas, and can now generate composted material within six weeks.

The tourism industry of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, uses windrow composting to divert solid wastes from the city's refuse disposal stream. These include landscape trimmings, dried sludge, and restaurant food residuals.
