Another stadium gets recycled

Article Abstract:

Midwest Rail and Dismantling of Milwaukee, WI, the company that won the contract for the dismantling of Milwaukee's County Stadium, plans to recycle as much of the existing steel and concrete as possible. The demolition of the stadium, the former home of the Milwaukee Brewers professional baseball team, started in mid-Jan 2001. Midwest Rail, which expects about 2,000 truckloads of recyclable materials from the demolition, intends to finish by Apr 1, 2001.

L.A. facility installs scale house

Article Abstract:

BIG Enterprises of South El Monte, CA, made a scale house for Downtown Metal Center of Los Angeles, CA. The scale house has replaced the old scale house which cannot anymore handle the 200 trucks coming and going out of the facility each day. Officials of Downtown Metal Center attest that the new scale house makes the weighing of trucks much more efficient, and makes the facility more aesthetically pleasing as well.

Another e-business joins the fray

Lehman Brothers Venture Capital and other venture funds have extended a $12 million venture capital financing to MetalMaker Inc to finance its online "application service provider' company, which will serve the metals industry. MetalsMaker CEO Ty Roberts said that by coordinating with suppliers and buyers, they will develop services which could increase the profitability of their customers.
