Automated system ensures compliance at Racine municipal wastewater plant

Article Abstract:

Bailey-Fischer & Porter of Warminster, PA, has helped the City of Racine Wastewater Treatment Plant in Racine, WI, comply with new standards for effluent discharge. The company supplied two of its 70C5500 chlorinators coupled with the 71RC5000 Chlor/Dechlor controller and Chlortrol 5000 Residual Analyzer to create the automated system that helps the plant's discharge meet the new standards set by Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources and EPA Section 5. The new standards call for Fecal Coliform levels of under 400 colonies per 100 ml and chlorine residual levels of 0.037 mg/l for effluents released into Lake Michigan.

Filtration process restores murky pools to crystal clarity

Article Abstract:

LEEM Filtration Products' stainless steel laterals called Wedge-Flow were used to upgrade the filter system of the Western Maui resort hotel in Maui, HI. The problematic filter system, which was to recycle water used on the hotel chain's decorative ponds, was suffering from leaks, pressure drops and the excessive need to backwash. The problem was solved by replacing the PVC laterals of the horizontal sand filter with LEEM's stainless steel laterals.
