Backyard bin distribution strategies

Article Abstract:

The Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) in Canada supplies bins of composting material to people. The municipalities in the GVRD maintain that there are certain specifications which must be met for the supply of compost bins when there is a tender, such as, composters must have a properly secured top as attack of bins by rats should be avoided and the bins should have a capacity of 240 liters and the recycled contents should be made of plastic.

Growing plants with recycled cardboard

Article Abstract:

Composters in Ontario, Canada, have focused attention on recycling packaging wastes such as corrugated cardboard and organic waste by-products to attain good soil amendments and potting mixes for use in the agricultural sector. Recycling of such packaging materials has emerged as an effective strategy to cope with the shortage of feedstocks such as wood chips and other bulking agents in the region.
