Big city recycling moves forward

Article Abstract:

The Philadelphian government plans to provide curbside recycling to its residents, despite the shortage of funds and the difficulty in collecting waste from its densely populated areas. The state is trying to increase its productivity by using lesser resources and has cut down the cost of recycling to 107/ton. People's participation in the program has been encouraged by providing them with blue bags to collect waste in. Such bags are placed at every curbside and a variety of collection vehicles are used to collect materials for recycling.

Article Abstract:

Innovative systems in high-rise buildings are increasing public participation in recycling programs by virtue of their convenience. The systems that are being introduced make source separation easier, and include a Hi-Rise system which uses a rotating bin instead of a trash compactor, Nu-recycling Technology which permits the building owner to retain the trash compactor but use directing values inside the trash chuck and a 4 chute system for different recyclables.
