Closed loop recycling system for commercial organics

Article Abstract:

A compost plant in Corinth, NY, is continuously increasing its capacity for recycling source separated food scraps. The facility consists of a concrete receiving floor, a hydropulp where other wastes such as glass, metal and plastic are separated and storage tanks where slurry from the hydropulp is pumped. Air is continuously pumped into the slurried material to allow fermentation to occur. The finished slurry is pumped into product holding vessels where water is removed to create a dried product for use as fertilizer.
