Compost facilities take on film plastic

Article Abstract:

Oregon green waste composter finds air separation effective in removing plastic from the overs fraction remaining after finished compost screening. An air separator installed on the overs outfeed conveyor of a screen pulls plastic off the belt using vacuum pressure and the discharge tube empties into a reusable sock that can be emptied as needed and since the overs are clean enough, they can be reintroduced into the compost mix to act as inoculants.
