Compost utilization goes through the roof

Article Abstract:

Horticulturalists, plant physiologist and agricultural engineers at Penn State center for Green Roof Research in University Park, Pennsylvania are collaborating to study the many aspects of green roofs and their effects on the environment. They plan to use compost in media studies and explore microbial communities thus, utilizing the compost.

Compost progress in Australia

Article Abstract:

Various private companies including Australian Native Landscapes (ANL) and Cleanaway have developed innovative methods to recycle organic waste, including vegetative material and woody waste, into economically useful composts. Cleanaway, a waste management firm, is extending plans to gain composting business in Victoria and New South Wales.

Degradable additives for plastic compost bags

Article Abstract:

The recycling industry has developed versatile, moisture resistant plastic bags for collecting recyclable waste products through the effective mixing of degradable additives to petroleum based plastic resins. These plastic bags are environmentally friendly and cost-effective replacements of previously used paper bags.
