Data collection stalls without good metering

Article Abstract:

Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority (GSWSA) in Conway, SC, uses Water Specialties' propeller flowmeters at all five of its water transmission lines collect important water flow data. The new propeller flowmeters replaced mechanical propeller meters that constantly break down, causing GSWSA to lose vital information required to keep track of water supplies. The propeller flowmeters allowed GSWSA to eliminate months of waiting to get the meters on-line while maintenance crews repair the old meters.

Exploring area/velocity flowmeters

Article Abstract:

Area/velocity flowmeters offers open channel monitoring of flows as well as portability. The flowmeters have also been used in the measurement of surcharged, full-pipe, submerged anmd revesrse flow conditions. Typical water and waste applications of area/velocity are in the measurement of river flows, stream gauging, wastewater collection system flows, storm drain flows and monitoring of inflow/infiltration.

How the Multi-Mag insertable meter works

Article Abstract:

Marsh-McBirney Inc's Multi-Mag meter provides electromagnetic sensors placed on an insertable probe that are spread out on a pipe's entire diameter. The probe monitors and identifies shifting profiles compared to spool-piece meters and flowmeters that are capable of only one point of flow measurement. The sensor has a streamline shape, lessening flow disturbances which result in low pressure drop.
