Desalination of seawater

Article Abstract:

France-based water companies Saur, Degremont and Sidem have incorporated the competing water desalination processes of distillation and reverse osmosis to serve markets in the Mediterranean and the Middle East with these technologies. Saur, in partnership with Unelco, supplies Las Palmas in the Canary Islands with fresh water from three desalination plants with a capacity that will reach 3,500 cu ft per day. Degremont, for its part, has a station that processes 1.06 million cu ft per day for the island of Palma de Majorca.
