Emphasis on practical training during European Safety Week

Article Abstract:

The focus of European Week for Safety and Health at Work 2007 is raising awareness of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), particluarly about the causes, preventive measures, and the impacts on employees and company. The Britsh Safety Council supports the campaign by providing employee training courses on good working practices. The causes of MSDs are presented.

Testing resilience in Hampshire

Article Abstract:

Fire crews from Berkshire, Dorset, Isle of Wright, Surrey and hampshire participated in a fire and rescue exercise hed at Esso Fawley Refinery. The exercise was aimed at testing the equipment, and procedures for firfighting water supply and re-use. Details of the equipment and materials used in the exercise are given.

A European perspective on global change, civil society and wildfire risk

Article Abstract:

Fire services tend to compete for resources with other public sector agendas such as education and law and order. Fire services can argue for resources with environmental, health and economic reasons. The other factors that affect wildfire as a policy issue are also discussed.
