Energy from food processing wastewater

Article Abstract:

Aerobic bacteria are very good at degrading waste, up to 50% of the waste becomes more bacteria that in it presents a disposal problem as sludge or biosolids. Anaerobic technology system offering two valuable by-products to companies that generate large volumes of highly concentrated carbohydrate waste is discussed.

Diverting food residuals in Minnesota

Article Abstract:

The compost community and government in Minnesota are working cooperatively to protect natural resources. Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) encourages resource conservation and considers food residuals an important resource because of their nutrients and well established benefits as a soil amendment.

Diverting food residuals from the sewer

Article Abstract:

Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, CA, expects to save USDlr450,000 on its sewer rates in the coming 10 years thanks to its program of diverting food residuals from the landfill. Waste is instead recycled or composted.
