Estimating stated preferences with rated-pair data: environmental, health, and employment effects of energy programs

Article Abstract:

An evaluation of the rated-pair data as surveying technique reveals that the method does encourage multiple observations that increase the accuracy of respondent data. Rated-pair data however, pose respondent learning derived deviations that have to be overcome by the researcher. The technique, applied to evaluations of energy policy facilitates the determination of respondent preferences.

Nuclear waste transport and residential property values: estimating the effects of perceived risks

Research into the impact of transporting nuclear waste on residential property values is presented. The paper studies data on property sales in South Carolina and presents a model estimating the effect of perceived risks on property values.

Externality effects of small-scale hazardous waste sites: evidence from urban commercial property markets

Article Abstract:

The contamination of the Hazardous Waste Sites (HWS) as compared to those of the National Priority List (NPL) are analyzed. Severely contaminated properties are believed to reduce the value of nearby single-family homes.
