Financing options for composting firms

Article Abstract:

Banks are more reluctant to finance composting operations than paper or plastic recycling operations as banks fail to perceive a quick payoff. Financing alternatives for composters can come from several sources, such as private investors, equipment financing/leasing companies and equipment manufacturers. State loans and grants are potential funding sources for companies expanding or starting operations. The most innovative method used is negotiation of land acquisition loan with a mortgage brokerage company by Recycling Organic Materials Inc, NY.

Collecting the unusual

Article Abstract:

Collecting new recyclable materials is the growing trend among communities. In Iowa, old clothes are baled and recycled into wiping cloths or shipped for reuse overseas. Ann Arbor, MI and Sunnyvale, CA have instituted measures for oil, household and automobile batteries recycling while Charlotte, NC included appliances in its recyclable items to minimize illegal dumping in landfill sites. Additional items such as frozen food boxes and aseptic container are also recycled.
