From cost avoidance to growing business

Article Abstract:

Waste management facility Fertile Earth Inc. was set up in 1995 to manage the wood residual waste produced by parent company FirstEnergy. Fertile Earth accepts waste products such as pallets and cleared brush. It operates several sites in the US and is situated on a 12-acre site. It uses aerated windrows and processed 85,000 cubic yards of waste in 1997.

Landfill reclamation projects on the rise

Article Abstract:

Reclaiming of landfills has emerged as an effective, environmentally friendly landfill management strategy in the US and Canada. A total of seven reclamation projects, six in the US and one in Canada, are underway for various purposes such as diversion of wastes, grading and reusing of the sites.
