Fruit juice processor launches composting project

Article Abstract:

Hungary is in the process of harmonizing all its legislation, including environmental and waste management, with European standards. At Rauch Hungaria Kft, farmers, researchers and business people have joined to resolve the company's fruit waste problem. A program of composting trials was undertaken using a simple windrow system. Feedstocks depend on the seasonal nature of the residuals from the juicing plant, and they are blended with animal manures. They will be used on arable land and field trials will concentrate on yield from crops amended with the compost.

Composting food and vegetative waste

Article Abstract:

Compost Connections forges networks between sources of organic wastes, such as schools, grocery stores and restaurants, and farmers for composting of food and plant wastes. The company, based in Pittston, ME, and established in Jun 1991, offers to solicit clients, arrange contracts and train employees of the contracting firm for the farmer. This is an ideal setup because the farmers have the capacity to compost organic materials and the resulting organic fertilizers will reduce expenditure for chemical fertilizers.
