Manufacturers argue new source review creates trade barrier

Article Abstract:

Auto and manufacturing industry groups have complained that the Environmental Protection Agency's new source review program hinders the ability for US manufacturers to compete in the international market. The group has also prepared a report identifying examples of maintenance activities that have been overlooked under the new source review program.

Bipartisan lawmakers press EPA to release dioxin risk assessment

Article Abstract:

The Environmental Protection Agency has been working on a dioxin risk assessment for the last ten years, and Congress is now pushing the agency administrator, Christine Todd Whitman, to release the report. Dioxin is a pollutant coming mainly from the chlorine industry.

State Commissioners press EPA to broaden water funding analysis

Article Abstract:

Officials of the Environmental Council of the States are requesting the Environmental Protection Agency expand its study of funding for water infrastructure projects. The request could assist the agency's funding needs with up to $500 million over the next decade.
