Pallet remanufacturer supplies colored mulch market

Article Abstract:

Pennsylvania-based Nazareth Pallet Co. added a coloring process to their pallet-grinding services, offering highly marketable shades of green, blue and gold in addition to the standard colors of red, black and brown. The liquid dyes are combined along with pallet chips in a mixing chamber and churned by paddles for specific lengths of time.

WoodWins, a business venture of the Neighborhood energy Consortium of St. Paul, Minnesota, diverts a significant amount of discarded wood and wood materials from the state's waste stream. The company creates garden products such as benches, windowboxes and planters from shipping pallets and deconstructed lumber.

Federal agency tries biodegradables

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the provision of biodegradable food containers by the US Department of the Interior in a partnership with the EarthShell Corporation of Baltimore. The composting of the containers is discussed.
