On visible choice sets and scope sensitivity

Article Abstract:

The burgeoning empirical debate over scope sensitivity within contingent valuation studies is fundamentally incomplete since it has neglected a systematic examination of certain effects on study design upon observed scope sensitivity. These dimensions of design act together with changes in the order in which nested goods are presented.

Analysis of contingent valuation data with multiple bids and response options allowing respondents to express uncertainty: A Comment

Article Abstract:

Two multiple bounded discrete choice (MBDC) datasets suggest that individual's willingness to pay (WTP) responses are driven by a single or a highly correlated, underlying WTP distribution. Results imply models that assume perfect correlation between responses are more appropriate for modeling MBDC responses.
