Peeling back the co-responding sticking plaster

Article Abstract:

The article tackles the role of firefighters in responding to medical emergencies. The issue is whether there should be a co-responder scheme between the ambulance service and the fire and rescue service. The Fire Brigade Union is against the scheme while the Select Committe report believes that a national co-respondent protocol is necessary.

The enforcement of new rules for professional drivers had the European Union Regulation limiting driving time and ensuring that proper rest periods are taken to prevent accidents. The key provisions included in the regulations and their impact on firefighter duties, with particular stress on the rest period clause, are discussed.
