Research describing pollution permit trading is presented. In particular the determination and influence of the permit discount rate is investigated with reference to the social costs of intertemporal trading.

Optimal pollution permit endowments in market with endogenous emissions

Article Abstract:

The static and dynamic models of pollution permit markets with endogenous emissions that have to be purchased by firms and citizens, are presented. Optimal permit endowment occurs when the regulator has no control over the damages and severity of the citizens collective action.
