Practical model for school organics recovery

Article Abstract:

Successful implementation of organic disposal programs in schools of Southwest Washington with the combined initiatives of a local county, a school and a waste hauler is discussed. These programs have educational and environmental benefits, are custom made according to every school, offer cost effective options and include interesting educational events like faculty meetings and arranging exciting assemblies for educating students about recycling wastes.

Creating an affordable road to composting

Article Abstract:

The development and testing phase of CompDog, composting machine designed in partnership by Rancher of Silver Springs Organics in Rainier, Washington and Seattle-based Engineered Composting Systems are reviewed. The machine has received good customer response and Silver Springs is pursuing business with food service entities including hospital, retirement homes, schools, supermarkets and municipalities.
