Quantifying tonnage, mapping generators in metro Atlanta

Article Abstract:

The University of Georgia has researched and assessed the feasibility of launching a new composting operation for the Atlanta metropolitan region. Research included food residuals quantification from sources such as the institutional sector, commercial sector and the industrial sector. Projections indicate a 20-acre windrow facility would be needed.

Vermiculture facility grows in the southeast

Article Abstract:

Bear Creek Worm Farm located in Douglas, Georgia is rated as the largest vermiculture and vermicomposting operation in the southeastern United States. The farm is mainly producing red wiggler worms for the region's fishing bait market and thousands of tons of castings for the nursery industry.
