Taking stock in Westminster

Article Abstract:

Chief Fire Officers Association's first Fire Summit was held on November 14 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre. The participants discussed issues concerning the Fire and Rescue Service, such as improving safety of personnel, the modernization process, the cost and environmental impacts of fire, and the government's fire policy. The addresses delivered at the conference are discussed.

Sawmill fire proves tough test

Article Abstract:

Twelve fire engines, from stations such as Lothian and Borders Fire Service, were dispatched to extinguish the fire that destroyed the AJ Scott sawmill. However, extinguishing the sawmill fire proved to be difficult, as there were strong winds and the supply of water was limited. A timeline of the events that happened during the fire is given.

Spectacular blaze flattens Walsall mill

Article Abstract:

A fire broke out in Shannon's mill in Walsall on August 3, 2007. The fire destroyed the whole building and it threatened to set fire to the neighbouring properties. The fire was put out the following morning with the help of 150 firefighters.
