Water rescue - time to get serious and work together

Article Abstract:

The National Lifeboat and Royal Institution has taken initiatives to attain a degree of consistency for water rescue procedures and signage. The world's first coastal managers user guide for Public Rescue Equipment and new rescue standards were developed. Details of their efforts and partnerships with the fire and rescue services, police, urban search and rescue, HM coastguard and air ambulances are discussed.

The use of helicopters in the fire and rescue operations and the subsequent purchase of such are being considered. The Center for TeleInFrastruktur conducted its 29th meeting to discuss Emergency Action Codes, PREVIEW, and change in ADR regulations. The UK Maritime Incident Response Group concluded its project on the development of standard operational procedures in the maritime environment.
