Weight based collection debuts for commercial stream

Article Abstract:

A computerized system for weighing waste collection in Oakland Park, Florida may help in reducing the waste volume from local businesses and condominiums. Waste management can improve by expanding the weight-based system to charge fees according to the nature of the materials and waste streams. A pilot program has proved its feasibility in the residential sector. While private haulers can be hired for organic waste collection, recycling should be encouraged by providing refuse containers.
