Amazing Thai film: The rise and rise of contemporary Thai cinema on the international screen

Article Abstract:

The research focuses on Siam/Thailand's relation with the west and on the effects of Western influence on literary and cinematic developments in Thai culture, and the key stages in the rise and rise of Thai cinema from the late 1990s and the cultural and political significance on Thai film industry is examined. It is concluded that the widespread promotion of Thailand as an international tourist destination marked by the qualities of an 'Amazing Thailand' has played a significant part in harmonizing the aspirations of the Thai film industry and has drawn together the multifaceted strands of local and global expectation.

A Philadelphia story

Article Abstract:

The Million Woman March, took place in Philadelphia, a historic event where over a million African American women assembled to show solidarity, is discussed. After six years of the event the same lofty ideas, which made that march a grand success laid in shambles as the two women who organized the event, have split due to their personal reasons.

The rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia: internal or external origins?

Article Abstract:

There has been a lot of debate and dispute regarding the history of Khmer Rouge and of Democratic Kampuchea. However it was noticed that the corresponding split in the historiography was not openly emphasized in these debates that focused on the years of Khmer Rouge rule.
