High-flying costs

Article Abstract:

First and business class airline tickets have risen 6% in price since the start of 1996, and hotel rates in major cities have risen from 5.7% to 10.7%. Growing demand for business travel, a stronger economy, and government legislation are all contributing to the rising rates.

Most foreign destinations popular with US travellers have introduced measures to ensure that their airlines, airports and air traffic control systems are prepared for the year 2000 computer date change. Issues concerning airline code-sharing are also discussed.
