Insurance well spent: Small companies can get the insurance they need without wiping out the bottom line

Article Abstract:

Business firms must buy the right type of insurance, prioritizing their risks, by covering the largest risk exposure first, and then move on to secondary risks while retaining enough capital for immediate needs. The different types of coverage include property, liability, workers' compensation, business interruption, commercial auto, and employment practices.

A plan for today's money market

Business plans alone, while helpful to the entrepreneur, are no longer useful for obtaining funding. Writing a business plan requires intensive research, the naming of a management team, and an honest review of company financial needs. Young companies must also prove their ability to bootstrap, that is, grow from profits instead of from further financing.
