Lawrence's strategy and tactics in the Arab revolt

Article Abstract:

T.E. Lawrence's tactics and strategies in helping organize the Arab Revolt, initiated by the Hashemites and aided by the British to release the Arabs from the Ottoman yoke and drive the Turks out of Arab lands, are discussed. Lawrence's main strategy was to bottle up the Turks in Medina, but not to threaten them to the extent that an attempted break-out would be their only salvation, and keep the Hejaz Railway working, but only just, in order to raise tribal irregulars who could make hit and run raids on the line, thus tying down large numbers of Turkish troops guarding and repairing it.
