The Society's 1999 tour to Iran

Article Abstract:

Members of the Royal Society of Asian Affairs visited the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1999. It was an opportunity to see many monuments to Iran's illustrious past, and gain impressions of contemporary developments. Iran has a lot of ground to make up, especially in the field of information technology. Tourism will also require major investment to attract visitors to Iran's cultural heritage.

Elections in Iraq - 30 January 2005: An assessment

Article Abstract:

The elections for a Transitional National Assembly of Iraq, its 18 provincial councils and for voters in the three semi-autonomous Kurdish provinces of Dohuk, Arbil and Sulaimaniyya were held on 30 January 2005. The Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq (IECI), which was established by the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), organized the elections.

The noble art of the chase in the Arab world

Article Abstract:

Hunting was considered as an important part of the way of life of the people in Arab. The practice of the hunt that was given expression in the highly stylized poetry of the period before Islam, known as the Jahiliyya (ignorance), is discussed in detail.
