Malaysia's year of the snake

Article Abstract:

This article examines the current economic and political crisis of Malaysia and the impact it will have on their future. The author, maintaining Malays are preparing for change, argues that the biggest challenge for Malaysia is overcoming the deep split in the Malay community with pressing unity talks between the United Malays National Organization and the Parti Islam Sa-Malaysia.

Malaysia at fifty: conflicting definitions of citizenship

Malaysia after Fifty years of freedom on 31 August 1957 from the British colonial rule has risen to be one of the world's leading manufacturers of manufactured goods. Malaysia appears to be a model of multicultural harmony with its mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous people but it has its own problems.
