New room for profits

Article Abstract:

Hispanics, who invest $92 billion into the US travel and meeting industry every year, became a prime hotel franchising target in 2005, as major hotel chains have stepped up efforts to increase franchise ownership among Hispanics and other minorities, launching new programs, incentives and revamping the existing ones. To qualify for the programs, minorities must own at least 51 percent of a company or investment group buying the hotel, and must meet net worth requirements, which are usually more than $1 million.
