One day at the Capitol: when Congressman Luis Gutierrez paid a surprise visit to his office, he got a firsthand lesson about the reality of racism

Article Abstract:

Gutierrez was insulted by a security guard at the visitors' entrance to the Capitol. He and a daughter and a niece were carrying Puerto Rican flags for Puerto Rico Affirmation Day. The guard made racist remarks, said the flags were unfurled against the rules and that Rep Gutierrez was using a fake ID.

A listing of five top careers and the five most active corporate recruiters of college students is given by the Hispanic Assn of Colleges and Universities placement officers. Computer science and business administration are top careers. Intel, UPS, IBM, Ford Motor, and AT&T are top recruiters.

Setting up a profitable franchise requires attention to the market being served. Franchises serving a Hispanic immigrant population, for example, should advertise in Spanish and use bilingual printed matter. The customers should also be familiar with the franchise name.
