Party on payday? In general a look at the incomes of Hispanics is cause for cautious optimism

Article Abstract:

The growth of Hispanic American income since 1980 translates into more than $276 billion in purchasing power. Other gains have been in the number of Hispanics making more than $75,000 annually. Five percent of Hispanics fell into this category in 1997. The downside of this is the drop in income equality for Hispanic Americans. From 1980 to 1997, inflation-adjusted income per capita grew 0.7% annually in contrast with 1.4% for Anglos and 1.6% for African Americans.
