Tempest over tacos

Article Abstract:

Taco Bell drew fire from critics when it launched a new advertising campaign with a Spanish-speaking dog. The Chihuahua named Dinky who said "Yo quiero Taco Bell" was tagged as being detrimental to the image of Hispanic-Americans with overtones on Latino eating habits. Taco Bell hired general market advertising agency TBWA Chiat/Day to produce the television spot, revealed Accentmarketing vice-president Rick Hermida. Hermida advised Hispanic advertisers and consumers to retain their sense of humor since cultural stereotyping is an effective advertising tool.
