The end of the oMexican schoolo

Article Abstract:

Sylvia Mendez challenged segregate education in California and won the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka that gained her name and equality for the Hispanics with reference to education. The defeat of the segregation laws not only ended the days of 'Mexican schools' allowing access to the significant benefits of quality education, but also lifted many of the barriers Hispanic families faced in other areas, including buying homes.

Growing influence: Increasing political clout and attention may put Hispanics at a crucial crossroads

Article Abstract:

Increasing Hispanic political influence in the wake of Hispanic voter turnout may put them at a crucial crossroads in the November 2004 elections. A study revealed that the growing number of Hispanics to elected positions and the shifting of political behavior is due to the influence that party registration and turnout drives are having, which is changing US Hispanic into a powerful and influential demographic.
